+ WHAT IS YOUR ALCOHOL POLICY?
In Providence, RI, and throughout the state, serving alcohol at public or private events requires careful adherence to liquor laws. The client must adhere to the following:
- Licensed Bartender Requirement: Under Rhode Island law, all alcohol must be served by a certified, licensed bartender. This ensures the safety of your guests and compliance with local regulations. A self-service bar, where guests serve themselves, would not meet these legal requirements and could result in significant liability for both the venue and the event hosts.
- Liability and Insurance: Without a licensed bartender to oversee alcohol service, there is a greater risk of overservice or minors consuming alcohol. For this reason, The Dye House requires that all vendors serving alcohol provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI). A self-service bar would complicate or invalidate insurance coverage, putting your event and guests at risk.
- BYOB Options: While we do allow clients to bring their own alcohol for their event, we still require a certified bartender to manage the service. This ensures compliance with Rhode Island's alcohol laws and reduces your exposure to liability.
